Highlights = Week 17 of 52

I was SLIGHTLY more productive this week.

Our homeowner’s association hosted a community-wide garage sale on Saturday.

Why does a garage sale always seem like a better idea than it really is??

We put out my ENTIRE inventory of porch posts and signs so I could make room for more.  (Sorry Jim!)

Doug and Tracey brought some of her artwork to sell too.

It was fun to sit and visit but by noon on Saturday, we were ready to call it quits.

On Sunday, Delanie and Hanna came over to craft with me!

Whoop whoop!!

We sat at the table and chatted like magpies and I had the best time.

I tried my hand at watercolor and I think I did ok!

While we were crafting, Jim had arranged to have both our cars detailed.

Remember when my neighbor and I rescued that old fence being torn down int he neighborhood?

Well, it took a toll on my poor car!

I love that man of mine!! 💙💙💙

Highlights - Week 16 of 52

Dang it…..I’ve gone and gotten backed up again! 😜

A few weeks of highlights coming in hot today.

I’d like to say I’ve been busy creating and being productive and getting stuff done but

I.  HAVE.  NOT.

All day long at work, my spot on the couch is calling my name.  I think to myself, “I’ll just sit down for a minute” then I realize I’m four episodes into House of Cards.

I did realize something while becoming a complete vegetable on my couch though.

Check out how long my hair is getting!!

The most productive part of this week was when Jim installed the solar “up” lights in the front of our house.

I think I’ll keep him!

See y'all next week!

In The Studio - Postcards

Howdy friends!!

I’m back in the studio to share my latest fun project.

This one is super simple and I did it while sitting on the couch watching a movie!

Supplies needed:

Photos (I used standard 4”x6” prints)
White cardstock
Black pen
Double-stick tape

Y’all……this is me!

always have a camera around my neck, in my car or within reach……ALWAYS!

I don’t care if I look like a tourist.  If I come across something that makes my heart skip a beat, I will take drastic measures to get the shot.

Truthfully, I’m surprised I haven’t been arrested yet.

I have walked up to people’s front doors to ask them about something in their yard, trekked through fields to get up close with a longhorn, stopped in the middle of the street (with my flashers on, I might add!) to capture a beautiful sunset……it drives Jim CRAZY!!

Anyway, I digress.

I knew I had a few prescriptions to pick up at CVS so I uploaded several photos online to have the prints ready when I got there.

Then I got home, turned on the movie and got to work!

Please tell me I’m not the only one on the planet who has to do something with their hands while they watch a movie.

Here’s my step-by-step process……

  • Using the double-stick tape, tape the photos onto the white cardstock.
  • Cut out the photos (photos + cardstock = postcard thickness)

  • Flip the postcards over and draw a vertical line down the center to separate the address from the message.
  • On the right side, draw horizontal lines for the address.
  • I added a square in the top right corner because I thought it would be cute.  It will later be covered with a stamp.

  • On the left, I added the photo title at the top and my website at the bottom.

Did y’all know that I have an Etsy shop dedicated strictly to my photography?!

Check it out……

I really love sending people mail.  It could be for any reason……thinking of you, happy birthday, I love you, blah blah blah.

It’s so fun and the recipient gets a pick-me-up.

To surprise Delanie this week, I sent her a postcard of a lighthouse in Duluth we visited when we first moved to Minnesota.

That’s it, folks!  Happy crafting!!

Highlights - Week 15 of 52

Welcome back, friends!!

Good grief........that right there sums up my week perfectly!!

We have peaches!!!

Check out those cute little fuzzy things!! 💚

My plan for this peach tree is to
1) see if it lives until Fall and if it does, and
2) plant that sucker in the backyard.

People tell me I have to have two to produce fruit - a male and female - but I'm not sure that's true.  This one is doing just fine on it's own.

Our backyard has astro turf installed (for our spoiled four-legged friend below) and I want to make sure the tree is going to make it before putting in the ground.

Fingers crossed!!👊

Speaking of our four-legged friend......I don't think a cuter dog exists.

"Ummm.....excuse me....Dad......can you PLEASE pay attention to me????"

😀😀😀

Remember those windows I found in Frisco?

I think I found some friends to keep it company on the liquor cabinet.  💛

Now that Spring is here and it's warm over lunch, I've been getting out of the office to explore.

This church around the corner from my office has a beautiful little pond that's perfect to shut off the world and take a break.

When the silence gets too loud, I'll turn on a Ted Talk.

I watched one by movie producer JJ Abrams this week that is easily #1 on my list.

Click HERE to check it out.  It's the best 18 minutes you'll spend today.

Another lunch hour was spent driving around Hall Park in Frisco.

They have really cool statues everywhere.

I wish I had longer to really study them.

Garrett and Maci spent the day at the air show this week.  Mother Nature was not coopering but our sweet Maci made the best of it.

Isn't she the cutest thing ever?! 💚

This year was the first year since 2008 that our family did not participate in the MS Walk.

Charlene - my soul sister, my best friend, my biggest hero - has been fighting some really big battles lately.

Dear Lord:  Please send her strength, endurance and patience as she fights this ugly disease.

That's 👆 exactly what I think when I think of Charlene.

Jim installed some outdoor lighting this week and it looks SO GOOD!

I took this picture in the dark so it's not the greatest but you get the idea.  💜

Delanie and Hanna had a blast in Minnesota!

You know it's a good trip when you don't come home with very many photos.  😉

Love my little adventurer!

This week has been a tough one at work.

Bullies....
Bowing up to that bully...
Making up for time out for the migraine.....

All in all, I needed to channel my mama and her badass shoe collection.

She always said a sassy pair of shoes could cure anything!

These bright new silver converse did the trick!

And finally......my motto for the week.  💜

In The Studio - Easter cards

Welcome back to the studio friends!!!

I posted the inspiration behind these Easter chick cards on this post.

I just knew they would be perfect for Easter! 💜

Supplies:

White card stock
Colored card stock (optional)
Envelopes
Colored pencils
Pencil sharpener
Black fine tip sharpie pen

OK, y'all......check out these awesome plastic trays I found at IKEA a few months ago!

They have a lip on the edges that makes it super easy to keep all my supplies from falling off the edges.  (They even come in handy when dinner is a sit-in-front-of-the-tv-kind-of-night!! 😉)

Check them out here.

You're welcome!!

STEP 1:  Using your colored pencils, color several ovals.

STEP 2:  Add the orange beak.

STEP 3:  Outline and embellish with your sharpie pen.

STEP 4:  Add wings, eyes and legs.

STEP 5:  Shade in some shadow.

Seriously cute and soooo easy!!!

These cards will be the perfect way to put a smile on a friend's face when they open the mail.

If my kids are lucky, they might even get a goody bag filled with Easter treats! 💙

And, I might have done a happy dance when I saw this notice in my Etsy shop this morning!

Now I'm off to the post office to mail this baby then back home to get to work on the Lazy Susans I've been dying to tackle!!

See you soon!!
